TAO ACADEMY Dōke Dōgakuin Saitama
Lighter days for the mind and body.
Ki no Dōin-jutsu (Ki — one of the roots of Qigong) helps you restore your vitality.
It helps relieve stress, stiff shoulders, poor sleep, and autonomic imbalance.
Since 1992, we have taught Ki no Dōin-jutsu — the practice regarded as a source of qigong.
Ki no Dōin-jutsu helps settle the flow of ki (life energy) throughout the body, while you learn the TAO way of living inspired by Laozi and Zhuangzi and their principle of mui-shizen (effortless naturalness).
From complete beginners to those who wish to study in depth, courses are shaped around your own purpose. See the courses (in Japanese) →

TAO Academy Saitama has taught Ki no Dōin-jutsu — the practice regarded as a source of qigong — in Urawa-ku, Saitama City since opening in 1992.
Students range from four-year-old children to people in their eighties, each practicing at their own pace according to their condition and goals.
Just eight minutes on foot from the west exit of Urawa Station, in a quiet tatami-matted studio where first-time students are guided step by step.
Ki (気) is the life energy that flows through every living thing. TAO (道), the Way, is the order of nature described by Laozi and Zhuangzi. The practice works on both at once: the body's flow of ki, and the way you meet your own life.

A health practice handed down from ancient China. Breathing is combined with slow, unhurried movements that work on the kyūsho (acupressure points), helping ki flow naturally throughout the body.

In this calm space, your breathing deepens and your mind and body settle. We believe that the time you spend facing your own ki — returning to your natural self — is something worth protecting. Groups are small, so first-time students are guided clearly and carefully.
Students come to the Urawa-ku studio from Omiya, Kita-Urawa, Minami-Urawa, Musashi-Urawa, Yono, Kawaguchi, Warabi, Toda, Asaka, Ageo, and Kawagoe. The studio is eight minutes on foot from the west exit of Urawa Station.

I gave birth at 44, and I am raising my child with plenty of energy and no menopausal symptoms. My stiff shoulders and lower back pain improved as well.

On the very first day of dōkō-jutsu, the last kilo that would never come off finally went. After that I kept up dōin-jutsu at home and trained in dōkō-jutsu, and about ten kilos came off steadily.

Crash dieting left me with irregular periods and migraines, and I would snap at my family and then hate myself for it. Once I began dōin-jutsu I lost 7 kg from my heaviest, my face slimmed, and the irregular periods and headaches eased on their own. Without the irritability my family smiles more, and I can enjoy meals without counting calories.
Yes. Ki no Dōin-jutsu is built on slow, gentle movements. Even if you have no exercise experience or little confidence in your fitness, each step is guided clearly, so you can begin at your own pace.
We are sorry that we are not yet able to teach in English. The orientation and lessons are given in Japanese, and for guests who are not comfortable in Japanese we communicate with the help of a translation device. The movements are demonstrated in front of you and guided step by step, so they are easy to follow even without fluent Japanese — and we take all the time needed for your questions. Please mention your preferred language when you book, so we can prepare accordingly.
We are afraid that online participation is not available. Ki no Dōin-jutsu is guided by watching each person's breathing and movement closely and adjusting them on the spot, both the orientation and lessons are held in person at the Urawa studio. We hope you will come and join us there.
No. TAO Academy is a place to cultivate the health of mind and body and to learn a way of living in harmony with nature, based on the thought of Laozi and Zhuangzi. We never ask you to join or believe in any religion.
Yes. Many students come for exactly that reason: breathing and stimulation of the acupressure points help settle the flow of ki, which is where improvement in autonomic imbalance, stiff shoulders, and back pain begins.
